Oshawa Pine Ridge Model Railroaders Club
Oshawa Ontario Canada
The Oshawa Pine Ridge Model Railroaders Club (OPRMRC) has been a cornerstone of the model railroading community in Oshawa, Ontario, since its establishment in 1969. Founded by a group of passionate General Motors employees, retired railway workers, and local train enthusiasts, the club quickly grew into a hub for model railroading creativity and fellowship. Over the years, it underwent several transformations, officially becoming the Pine Ridge Railroaders in 1975. In 2002, the club took a significant step forward by incorporating as Pine Ridge Railroaders, Inc., solidifying its presence as a trusted institution in the region.
Today, the club operates out of its clubhouse at 32 Wilson Road North, Oshawa, where members have meticulously crafted and maintained intricate HO and N scale layouts. These layouts showcase an impressive variety of scenes, from bustling industrial areas and rail yards to multi-level tracks complete with a coal mine. The setups support operational sessions, scenery development, and engine testing, offering members and visitors an immersive model railroading experience.
The Oshawa Pine Ridge Model Railroaders Club takes pride in its community involvement. The club regularly hosts public events, including open houses, annual fall shows, and the Don Parkes Memorial Modeling Contest, celebrating the artistry and heritage of model railroading. These events draw hobbyists, families, and rail enthusiasts from Durham Region and beyond, fostering a shared appreciation for the rich history of rail transport.
